BRITE ground station
in Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Centre
The official opening of the ground station for communication with satellites of BRITE's constellation took place in Warsaw on 6 December 2011.
The work on the installation and preparation of ground software took the next year.
In the first months of 2012, the station was used to control and receive data from the satellite PW-SAT designed and manufactured by students of Warsaw University of Technology.
Two Austrian BRITE satellites were launched on 25 February 2013. Then our ground station establishes communications with both satellites.
The most important day so far in the work on the station was November 21, 2013 when the first Polish scientific satellite BRITE-PL "Lem" was launched and when the data was received during its first flight over Europe.
