BRITE's Consortia

The Polish Consortium supporting the BRITE-PL Project was established in October 2009 by:

  • The Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences
  • The Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences
and was chartered with the research, design and construction of scientific instruments in the international research project BRITE-PL.

The main goal of the Consortium is to provide the technical expertise to develop the BRITE-PL project in Poland. The Consortium will help manufacture and launch into space two Polish nanosatellites, equipped with optical instruments for the observation of bright stars. It will also assist with the design and construction of the ground station to receive data from the satellites and to develop the algorithms for processing this information.

The second main objective of the Consortium is to learn about the technology, integration and testing of small satellites and to guarantee the participation of Polish scientific institutions and technological and industrial companies in developing satellites and the ground station segment.
